Hummeltorp is now investing heavily in soil products made up of biochar – a material that captures and reduces carbon dioxide in the air. By using biochar in, for example, plant beds, a carbon sink is created that reduces the carbon dioxide level in the air. Soil products with biochar are not only climate neutral, they are climate positive because the carbon dioxide is preserved in the soil product.
In addition to the great environmental benefits, the biochar acts as a nutritional battery for the plants. Biochar is a soil improver that keeps water, oxygen and nutrients in the soil – which makes the soil perfect for cultivation.
