The recycling company Hummeltorp is a world leader in recycling residual waste from the construction industry. Now the company becomes co-owner of Barkaby Science – a development arena in Järfälla for research, innovation and education in sustainable urban development. Together, they will continue to drive development of the smart and sustainable city.
Barkarby Science was started as an initiative of Järfälla municipality to create a sustainable city with people at the center. The goal is to build thousands of new homes and workplaces with low energy consumption and good conditions for sustainable development.
– We want to build a living city for future generations – Hummeltorp fits into that puzzle very well. With their creative height, they have created several successful development projects that aim to solve some of the challenges municipalities and people face. We are very happy to bring in Hummeltorp as a partner. Together we become even sharper and can take further steps towards the circular sustainable city, says Sophia Sundberg, CEO of Barkarby Science.
Barkarby Science will from March 17 be owned by Järfälla municipality together with Hummeltorp, Atrium Ljungberg, E.ON Energilösningar, Järfällahus, Skanska and Ragn-Sells.
– We are impressed by Barkaby Science’s offer and we are very happy to be part of the sustainable city. We look forward to creating the city of tomorrow today together with Barkaby Science, says Christer Otterström, CEO Hummeltorp.
– The development in Järfälla, which will be characterized by green growth, safety and community, is something that arouses interest and many actors want to be part of this journey. To be fully successful, a diversity of actors is needed who provide a breadth of experience and knowledge in terms of innovation and green transition. It is therefore gratifying that we can welcome Hummeltorp as a new partner and driving force to Barkarby Science, says Eva Ullberg (S), chairman of the municipal board in Järfälla and chairman of Barkarby Science.
